Dynamite MC
Dynamite MC, aka Dominic Smith, is one of the biggest names in the global MC world. Initially gaining prominence in the Jungle and Drum & Bass arenas, Dynamite has also released an enviable spectrum of hip-hop, breaks, garage and reggae material. Over the years, he’s collaborated with a galaxy of world-class artists, including Krafty Kuts, Chali 2na, The Nextmen, Document One, DJ Skitz, Switch, Elephant Man, Gardna, Andy C, DJ Zinc, Missile, DJ Friction, Camo & Krooked, Nu tone, DJ Marky, Tiesto, The Allergies, Dyro, DRS and more.
Dynamite’s career kicked off in the early 90s on pirate radio station Krush FM. After meeting the legendary Roni Size in 1995 and MCing for the Full Cycle crew, the Bristol collective formed the live band Reprazent where Dynamite shared vocal duties with singer, Onallee. Their debut album, New Forms, won the Mercury Music Prize in 1997, and Dynamite’s role was enhanced for Reprazent’s second album, the hip-hop influenced In The Mode (2000).
Further proving his versatility as an artist, Dynamite released a solo album, The World of Dynamite Deluxe, and the mixtape CD’s Big Man Talk 1,2 & 3, with many of his tracks appearing on A-List video game franchises such as Madden NFL, Need for Speed, Crackdown 2 and Grand Theft Auto.
After this run of production success, Dynamite also took time to host two national radio shows in the UK, interviewing artists such as P Diddy, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Wretch 32, Redman, Shaggy, PussyCat Dolls, Kano, Ja Rule, Estelle, Chip and many more.
All 4 Corners album (2017) was released with Krafty Kuts. Playing in the Dark (2020), a joint album with DRS was released on Hospital Records, where he collaborated with a plethora of Dnb’s finest producers. Deep Waters EP (2022) followed with more drum and bass goodness. He released bunch of singles in 2023 and 2024 is already started strong, with tracks from Caspa, Document One, The Allergies and Roni Size on the release schedule for before Summer.
Still one of the most in-demand MCs in the world and Drum & Bass Arena 2014 & 2015 award winner for Best MC, Dynamite tours continuously alongside the cream of the drum & bass, dubstep and breaks DJs, including the London Elektricity Big Band, Sigma, Shy FX and Roni Size.
